Requirements for New Customers in Illinois

To apply for new service, please call our Customer Service team at 1-855-872-3242.

Please be prepared to provide the following information or answers to the following questions in order to complete your request:

  • Service address
  • Are you the owner of the property?
    • If you are not the owner, please provide the name, phone number and address of the owner/landlord.
  • Are you a previous customer?
    • If yes, please provide your name and the address where your previous account was located.
    • Do we need to stop service at this address?
  • You will be asked to provide the following information (where applicable) for the primary person responsible for the account:
    • Full name
    • Social Security Number
    • Date of birth
    • Cell phone number
    • Email address
    • Present employer
    • Employer’s phone number
    • Length of employment with current employer
    • Previous address

Note: If you want to add information for a secondary account holder, such as a spouse or roommate, you will be asked to provide the same information as above for that account holder

  • Do you intend to use natural gas service for any or all of the following:
    • Hot water
    • Cooking
    • Heat
    • Other
  • New customers also have the opportunity to contribute to the Illinois Community Energy Assistance Program, a way to help other in need to pay their monthly gas bill.

Information for Landlords

We ask landlords to complete a Default Agreement in order to ensure continued service when a vacates a premises. Please review and complete the attached agreement and return it to Liberty at 2751 N. High Street, Jackson, MO 63755 or via fax: 573-243-1531.

What You'll Need

New customers will be asked to provide two forms of identification in order to start service. One form of ID must be government-issued photo identification, such a state issued ID, U.S. or foreign government issued passport, or consular identification documents.

Applicants will asked to provide one other form of identification, including but not limited to any of the following::

  • A second government issued photo ID;
  • Social Security number;
  • Driver’s license number;
  • Birth certificate;
  • Immigration and/or naturalization documents;
  • Student identification;
  • Banking information;
  • Employment records;
  • Government benefits/compensation records;
  • Tax ID number;
  • Articles of incorporation; or
  • Business license.

Information submitted must be accurate and verifiable.

Liberty may not oblige an applicant to provide one form of identification in favor of another, so long as one form is a government issued photo ID and the identification provided is valid and accurate.
